Wendy S. Brooks has been in-house counsel for WPX Energy, Inc. since 1998 and is currently Senior Counsel. Prior to joining WPX Energy, Inc., she was in-house counsel for Allstate Insurance Company and was also in private practice as a trial lawyer specializing in insurance defense. Her current practice covers creating and managing joint ventures, oil, gas and water mid-stream activities, acquisition and divestiture transactions involving oil and gas properties, oil and gas leasing, general commercial litigation, and day-to-day operational issues related to the company’s various basins. Over her twenty years as in-house counsel, she has provided legal advice to various internal groups including land, accounting, division orders, lease records, treasury, supply chain and marketing.
She has served on various law-related organizations including the Rocky Mountain Mineral Law Foundation (Speaker and Publication Committee), ABA SEER Committee, TCBA Pro Bono Committee and Community Relations Committee. She has also served on the board of various community non-profit organizations including LIFE Senior Services, Leadership Tulsa, and University School at the University of Tulsa.
She has a B.S. degree in Hotel and Restaurant Administration from Oklahoma State University and a J.D. degree from the University of Oklahoma.
