TIRN Fellowship - College of Law

TIRN Fellowship

The TIRN fellowship is a two-year program designed to serve as a bridge from academic studies to the practice of law by providing training and mentoring to a recent law school graduate. During the two-year tenure, the TIRN Fellow works under the direct supervision of the TIRN Director. The Fellow’s job duties include representing noncitizens seeking immigration relief, conducting trainings and informational sessions for noncitizens, local lawyers and other professionals, collaborate with other advocacy organizations and community leaders regarding current immigration issues, and assist in building a pro bono network of local attorneys.

TIRN Fellow Kate Vetterick with Professor Marton

“I decided to apply for the TIRN fellowship because, unlike most post-graduate positions, it offered direct mentoring and training. I was also very interested in practicing in an area that allowed me to help those who were most in need of legal assistance. The TIRN fellowship has provided me with countless opportunities to develop the skills necessary for a newly licensed attorney to be successful.” Kate Vetterick, TIRN Fellow 2015-2017.
