Molly H. Lawyer selected as Workers’ Comp administrative law judge

TU Law alumna Molly H. Lawyer has been selected to serve as an administrative law judge for the Oklahoma Workers’ Compensation Commission in Tulsa effective September 2017. She joins the commission after having served as a partner and workers’ compensation attorney in the Tulsa firm of Latham, Wagner, Steel & Lehman.

“Molly Lawyer will be an effective administrative law judge due to her extensive knowledge of the system,” said Commissioner Mark Liotta. “The Tulsa office currently sees 43 percent of the Commission’s prehearing conferences and 51 percent of the pending trials with one full-time administrative law judge. The addition of Lawyer in the Tulsa office will ensure greater efficiency and expedite outcomes for injured workers and Oklahoma businesses.”

“I’m honored to have the opportunity to serve and thank the commission for placing their trust in me. I look forward to using my knowledge and experience to adjudicate cases fairly according to the law,” said Lawyer (JD ‘08). “The time I spent at The University of Tulsa College of Law prepared me for a successful career as an attorney, and now, as a judge.”

Lawyer is an active board member of the Oklahoma Bar Association Workers’ Compensation Section and served as the chair from 2012-13. She has also been involved in the Tulsa County Bar Association serving as the chair of the Young Lawyers Section from 2011-2012. Lawyer was named a Rising Star by Super Lawyers in 2010.
