Rachel joined The University of Tulsa College of Law in January 2017 and previously served as the Associate Director of Professional Development. Rachel graduated magna cum laude from Midwestern State University with a BAAS in 2003. She later attended TU Law and received her JD in 2012.

Prior to law school, Rachel spent several years working with real estate closing and abstracting companies, both in Oklahoma and Texas. She has experience in various types of real estate transactions from basic residential real estate to multi-million dollar commercial transactions.

Following law school, Rachel worked as an associate for Doerner, Saunders, Daniel & Anderson, LLP, and Feamster & Carroll, PLLC, focusing primarily on all areas of family law, including, but not limited to, actions involving paternity, divorce, child custody, child support, guardianship, and adoption. Prior to joining TU Law, she also managed her own law firm, Rachel L. Baker, PLLC, where she provided clients with representation in various family law matters.

In addition to her courtroom experience, Rachel has volunteered with numerous organizations including Tulsa Lawyers for Children, Domestic Violence Intervention Services, United Way, and Early Settlement Mediation Programs.

In the Professional Development Office, Dean Baker assists with all professional development programs and provides career services support for students and alumni, as well as coordinates with potential employers. Rachel is an active member of the Oklahoma Bar Association, the Tulsa County Bar Association, the Tulsa Title & Probate Lawyers Association, and NALP, the Association for Legal Career Professionals.

Julie Peters
Associate Director of Professional Development

Julie joined the Professional Development office in August 2019. She graduated from Oklahoma State University with a BA in English in 2008 and received her JD from TU Law in 2011.

Following law school, Julie joined TU Law as the Outreach Coordinator for the Master of Jurisprudence in Indian Law program before moving across country to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. After three years, she returned to Tulsa where she joined Polston Tax Resolution & Accounting as an associate attorney. While there, she focused on all areas of federal and state tax issues, including, but not limited to, business and individual audit representation, advising on tax advantageous business structure, tax controversy representation, and U.S. Tax Court representation.

In addition to her legal experience, Julie has presented continuing education seminars for Attorneys, CPAs, and Realtors. She is also a member of the Tulsa Ballet Bar Society and is the founding member and host of the Tulsa chapter of an international women’s book club.
In the Professional Development Office, Julie assists Dean Baker with all professional development programs and provides career services support for students and alumni, as well as coordinates with potential employers. Julie is an active member of the Oklahoma Bar Association, Tulsa County Bar Association, United States Tax Court, and NALP, the Association for Legal Career Professionals.

Kyla Currie has a background in finance and a foreground in student support and social media. As an Administrative Assistant for the Professional Development Office, Kyla supports Dean Baker and the Associate Director with a wide variety of administrative tasks related to career services and professional development programming the office provides to TU Law students and alumni.

When she isn’t working, you will find Kyla spending time with family, reading, writing scripts, and jumping out of planes.
