TU Law announces two new administrative staff members

Kate Morelli joins The University of Tulsa College of Law as the Associate Director of Professional Development. In the Professional Development Office, Ms. Morelli assists Associate Dean Christy Caves with all professional development programs, provides individualized career services to TU Law students and alumni, and serves as a liaison between the College of Law and potential employers. She also oversees the administration of the College’s Licensed Legal Intern program and facilitates student and alumni mentorships. Ms. Morelli is a member of the Oklahoma Bar Association and the Tulsa County Bar Association. She is admitted to practice law in the State of Oklahoma and in the US District Courts for the Eastern, Northern, and Western Districts of Oklahoma. Additionally, she actively volunteers in the Tulsa community through leadership roles with the Junior League of Tulsa, Inc.

Ms. Morelli obtained a Juris Doctor with Honors in 2010 from the University of Oklahoma College of Law, where she served as an Articles Editor of the Oklahoma Law Review. Before attending law school, she graduated summa cum laude from Oklahoma State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and was recognized as the Outstanding Economics Senior. Following law school, Ms. Morelli returned to the Tulsa area where she practiced domestic, probate, and appellate law at the firm Bonham & Howard PLLC. Ms. Morelli also worked at the firm Rhodes, Hieronymus, Jones, Tucker & Gable PLLC, practicing civil defense litigation and appellate law.

Michael Chapman joins the College of Law’s administration as Director of External Relations. In his new role at TU Law, Mr. Chapman is responsible for a range of initiatives, including the development of strategies to strengthen TU Law’s connections with its alumni community. In addition, he will work with alumni, faculty, and staff to enhance the college’s national reputation for academic excellence, and for preparing its students to pursue successful careers in the legal profession.

Mr. Chapman brings to TU Law broad experience in external relations, alumni affairs, speechwriting, event management, and government and community relations. He has held senior-level positions in these areas at Brown University, New York University Medical Center, The George Washington University Medical Center, the Peace Corps, and the US Department of State. He began his career as a legislative assistant for former US Representative Dave McCurdy of Oklahoma.

A native of Tulsa, Mr. Chapman is a graduate of the University of Oklahoma and earned an MA at the University of Kansas. He received his JD from the Georgetown University Law Center, where he served as a senior editor for the Georgetown Journal of Legal Ethics, and he is a member of the Maryland Bar.
